This curriculum aims to develop managerial and organizational capacities in particular to monitoring and evaluation for the executive staff of NGOs working on AIDS in order to improve their efficiency, effectiveness and accountability.

The curriculum was used in a regional training workshop in October 2007 in Cairo. The workshop was organized by Regional Resource Group (RRG) for NGOs working on AIDS in MENA region together with the secretariat of RANAA network. Altogether 30 representatives of NGOs attended the training representing 14 countries from the region.

The team of trainers and facilitators included Dr. Maaly Guimei, Dr. Tawhida Khalil and Dr. Adel Malek.

The training package was developed by Dr. Maaly Guimei in collaboration with the secretariat of RANAA network, UNAIDS/RST and U/S Naval medical Research Unit # 3. The package includes the following:

1) Session plan with goals, objectives, and activities.

• Evaluation indicators
• Comparison of M& E
• Scientific steps of Evaluation
• Budgeting for M& E
• Planning for back to work

Who can use this curriculum?
This curriculum is intended to be used by the participants who attended the regional training workshop or by those who have strong basic knowledge of monitoring and evaluation.

These materials can be used as a refresher of the newly obtained information or as a tool to engage the entire staff of the NGO to the process of developing their monitoring & Evaluation plans. Experienced trainers may also use the materials to replicate the training workshop and train others in monitoring & evaluation.
